Internet is a popular tool due to its rapid development of new networking technologies. I think its something which everyone will need and use it.
For social life, internet makes people bond together. When I am young,I only uses internet to research for information and play games. Only until when I am in secondary school, then I heard about 'bonding people' website - MSN messenger. I am able to chat with people online easily but only those that I add them. Later on there is this website "Friendster" which allows me to search for my friends which I had lost contact since primary school, add current friends and make new friends to expand my social life.
Now there is another website "Facebook" which have somehow replaced "Friendster" where I can play games to compete, chat, comment my friends status, add applications and more. Its a very popular social-networking website now.
There are also blogs where people post about their everyday life.Friends can read about their blog post and get themselves updated about how their friends are doing.Besides being like an online journal, people sell things on blogs as well. I can also shop online easily without me going down to town and get squeezed by people.
For academic life, internet plays a part as well.It enriches my academic life.During primary and secondary school times, I only use internet to search for information like search engine Google(www.google.com.sg).
But now time has changed, I used internet to do online learning - E-learning like now.E-learning is not only used by Polytechnics and Universities now but also applies to secondary and primary schools.More schools are using e-learning, teaching online.
We can get information and news easily through internet and need not have to borrow books from the library. Also sometimes books might not have.
Internet is also used between countries about things they go against like the below example:

Internet is indeed amazing.
For research purposes, do you think Internet resources are the only resources that you can depend on for effective research? Justify your answer with an example.
I think internet resources are not the only resources that I can depend on for effective research. There are books and newspapers to be depended on as well. Internet is really a convenient tool to use for researching.
There are research saying that millions of Americans are relying on internet as their primary source for news and information about science. The internet is a research tool for 87% of online users.

But sometimes internet resources are not reliable like that of Wikis. People can easily change what others had written. Information can be false.First time readers might not know about it and just learn the wrong information.
Not reliable:
Someone with a grudge against a particular public figure, for example, could edit their entry to make derogatory remarks about them, or simply delete the page altogether. Controversial subjects are occasionally the site of "editing wars", where an entry is edited multiple times in quick succession by people on opposing sides of an issue. Because of this lack of vetting of entries, many teachers do not allow students to use wikipedia as an information source.
The biggest problem with using Wikipedia for research is anyone can contribute to writing the reference material and content may not be accurate. Additionally, since no author is attributed to the penned articles, there is no way of knowing their level of expertise and knowledge of the topic.
